It all started last November during my first wedding planning trip to the States. I had a meeting with our wedding planner Jesi Haack at the Sweet and Saucy Shop in Long Beach, California. On our way out my mom and I were intrigued with these chocolate covered red velvet cake balls on a lollipop stick, so we each got one and when I took a bite, as my cousin Nicolle would say " I tasted heaven in the cake!". My mom and I were instantly hooked and every time I'd go there for meetings leading towards our wedding, I ordered some. I actually wanted to serve the lollipop cakes at our wedding, but unfortunately the venue didn't allow outside food so we had to stick to the traditional cake which was still really good.
As most of you know, I am back in the Philippines and I won't be visiting California as often because for one, my wedding day has passed and two the PBA is back to the 3 conference format. A few weeks ago, when Jimmy and I were in the car I told him "Baby, you know those cake lollipops sound really good right now!" He gave me that look like, "Sorry but your asking for something that would require me to get on a plane for 14 hours so I can't get you those right now". For me, ( of course being Miss "I have to get what I want"(not all the time though :p) and who has been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately decided to do my research and figure out how to make my favorite dessert. My first batch was a success.... Well taste-wise it was, but the shape was a bit deformed, instead of looking like a ball it looked like a head with a flat top. Either way, I served it to my girlfriends who I had over for brunch and they loved it! One of them liked it so much I think she had more than 5!:-) I also gave some to The Groves family next door and sent some to my little sister Lodeanne who's really honest when it comes to criticizing me and they all loved it. The next day I decided to make another batch and I finally got the shape that I wanted. I was going to my friend Maricar's wine and cheese party that night so I decided to bring some which I dipped in pink candy melt and put white sprinkles on top for that cute girly look!:-) Again it was a hit at the party! I gave some away to other friends and relatives to get their opinion and everyone has been giving me very positive feedback saying I should start selling them . That's why I'm here now blogging about The Lollicake Factory! My husband Jimmy came up with that name because his favorite restaurant in the States is called The Cheesecake Factory. I suggest you try this yummy treat and I promise you'll be hooked! Ok gotta go now, I have to start making Lollicakes for tomorrow's Thanksgiving dinner/Baby shower for our friend Julie. I'll post some photos of the Thanksgiving Lollicakes soon!:-)
